Energising Vietnam with offshore wind
Corio Generation has two proposed offshore wind projects totalling 2.5 GW under development in Vietnam: the Binh Thuan offshore wind farm located off the coast of northern Binh Thuan province, and the Vung Tau offshore wind project located off the coast of Ba Ria in Vung Tau province.
If fully realised, the portfolio of projects is expected to provide enough clean energy for up to 2 million homes and help support over 3,800 jobs.
The Northern Binh Thuan offshore wind farm could be the first gigawatt-scale offshore wind farm in Binh Thuan province. The project was first proposed in 2019 and, since then, Corio has been actively engaging with the provincial authority and relevant central Vietnamese Government ministries and agencies.
In March 2024, Corio signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with a leading supplier of electricity to the Vietnamese power market: Vietnam Electricity (EVN) subsidiary Power Generation Corporation 3. EVN is Vietnam's largest state-owned power company.
