Energising Greece with offshore wind
Greece has significant potential to harness offshore wind energy along its sprawling coastline to create a new source of clean, reliable and affordable electricity generation.
As part of its National Energy and Climate Plan, the Greek government has set an ambition to deliver at least 4.9 GW of offshore wind energy by 2030-32. That ambition stretches to a potential 12.4 GW spread across as many as 25 identified sites after the 2030-32 horizon.
In November 2023, global offshore wind developer Corio Generation announced a partnership agreement with Globalsat Group to explore opportunities for offshore wind development in Greece.
The partnership combines Corio’s expertise in auction preparation and project development with Globalsat’s deep knowledge of the Greece’s regulatory and economic framework in the fields of technology and green energy.
